Shared Table

Thank you for applying to Shared Table: Conversations Across the Jewish Community.

This initiative is a new effort to create forums for Jews with diverse viewpoints to discuss, listen, and connect in a supportive environment, helping you build compassion and understanding for each other and our larger community.

By applying, you are joining a pilot project with enthusiasm, curiosity, and interest. Building bridges across differences is not easy. We are grateful for your interest and applaud you for applying!

You should apply if you want to:

  • Bring empathy, curiosity, and nuance to complex conversations
  • Be in a place where your voice is valued and heard
  • Be vulnerable and openly share your story and your experience

This may not be for you if you:

  • Seek to debate content or change people’s minds
  • Want to prove other Jews are wrong or are misguided
  • Recruit people to your group or effort

What will we do:

  • Large group skill building
  • Multi-week small group discussions with the same people
  • Enjoy a bit of levity, joy, and meaningful moments (we sure do need it!)

What will we get:

  • Make new connections, and maybe some friends
  • To hear voices that have felt silenced or too shy to share
  • Experience the beauty of a diverse and proud Jewish community

Questions? Contact Rabbi Jason Levine at jasonl@jewishinseattle.org.

Please note: Audience photographs and video recording may be taken at this event. By nature of your attendance, you are granting permission for your image to be used for marketing purposes

Consistency is crucial to building conversations and connections. We will keep a list of interested folks to join a future program if their schedule is too much an obstacle.

These questions will help us match small groups to ensure diverse and productive conversations.

Please note that not everyone will be accepted to our Shared Table. This is a combination of limited space and wanting to ensure that the small groups have the best dynamics possible to be successful. Not being accepted may simply mean the right small group configuration isn’t present this time. All are encouraged to sign up for future Shared Tables.

Organizational representatives will be grouped together so their conversations include the additional layer about working within Jewish spaces and role modeling back to their community.
